ICRF | New York

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your interest in Israel Cancer Research Fund (ICRF).  As you scroll through the various sections of this site, we hope that you come away with a strong sense of ICRF’s mission and the pride that we have in what ICRF-funded scientists have achieved.  The 2,348 ICRF cancer research grants awarded since ICRF’s founding have resulted in the development of unprecedented drug therapies and protocols that are recognized worldwide.

As the Co-Chairs of ICRF’s New York Chapter, we have a responsibility and personal dedication to ICRF’s untiring efforts to support Israel’s brilliant scientists as they continue to fight the scourge that cancer perpetrates against humankind.  Our sole focus is to raise ICRF’s profile and its donor base in this, one of the most philanthropic cities in the world.

Together with our active New York Chapter Board and dedicated staff, we present a range of programs and events that include evenings with ICRF’s brilliant grant-recipient scientists, our annual Donor Recognition Evening, and our Evening of Inspiration and Tower of Hope Galas.

Most inspiring of all our programs is ICRF’s annual proprietary Scientific Review Panel’s March meeting in New York City.  During this day-long conference, cancer researchers and oncologists from world renowned cancer centers analyze and evaluate over 150 project proposals and identify the most promising for funding.  As our donor base increases, we are able to fund more projects, this year 70 grants, totaling $4 million.  Yet, reviewers and donors alike exit these reviews, wondering: “if we had more funds, maybe one of those “unfunded” projects would lead to a cure for my loved one or my friend.”

We hear of more and more breakthroughs coming from Israel’s booming medical research community.  Only by raising more funds to support every viable project will ICRF’s mission succeed.  When you donate to ICRF you are helping us realize the hope that Elie Wiesel frequently expressed:

“I have a naïve faith that the answer to cancer will come from Israel because Israel has given to humanity a concept of celebrating life.”

Sincerely,

Cynthia Perl
